Has anybody seen a guess as to the time needed for Corral #1 at Boston in 2012?
The reason I ask is I qualified with a 3:04 (BQ-10), but ran 2:50:42 at Savannah yesterday. I'm considering submitting the new time if it might get me in C1.

submit the new time. I know I saw the corral breakdowns somewhere last yr. Just looked thru my stuff and didn't see it. If I find it I'll post here.

I found what I was looking for: http://www.runnersworld.com/community/forums/races-places/boston-marathon/2011-corral-qualifying-times

Still, I wonder how the new registration process will affect this?

I think you'll be on the bubble. As the selection times were a minute and a half quicker, I would expect the corrals to follow the same way based on normal statistical distribution. Times are getting a bit faster every year and I would expect the case to be the same this time around, plus the faster ones should be smart enough to have sent their application in on time. I would still send it in. Even second corral would be cool and a lot fewer runners to weave through.

I don't think normal statistics apply, the cut off was relative to selection criteria, and runners below 3:05 would not be even remotely affected. Still, it will be interesting to see the results.

I just realize I missed BQ-20 by 42 seconds, dang, I'll get over it.

Looks like i can move up one corral in the second wave based on this chart, and a more recent race than the one I submitted.

I'll never be in corral 1 (although I was in the 10th row back in 1985 and finished in the top 50 women in 1986), but congrats on the major PR, Steven - you are amazing!!

I expect to be in 4/5 this year. Was in 9 last year and 12 in my first BM. If I get really, really good, and all the starts align some race in the future, I might be able to sneak into 2 or 3 sometime in the next year or two, but father time might have something to say about that.
